Who Benefits from the program?
You do! As a cattle producer, you will receive a cash-bonus for every RFID identified calf you successfully market through the program. What is unique is you are not required to retain ownership, meet stringent grade and yield criteria or even pay an enrollment fee. Hereford Verified is a way for you to benefit from Certified Hereford Beef demand by simply validating the source, age and genetic make-up of your Certified Hereford Beef eligible feeder cattle and selling those cattle to a participating feeder.
Cow-calf Producers who provide the needed age and source (3rd party approval) of their calves will receive the following benefits:
- Direct access to Hereford Verified partnered feeders
- Qualification Bonus — $3 per head
- Carcass Performance Data
- Feedlot Performance Data
- Discounts of Individual Carcass Data
To receive the qualification bonus cattle must be marketed to an approved Hereford Verified feedyard and the cattle must then be marketed to National Beef. When your cattle are harvested you will be paid a qualification bonus of $3 per head for each EID that is successfully read.
Carcass Data Provided to Cow – Calf Producers
Producers have option on the amount of data they receive. Below is a chart describing the various packages available. If you would like the detailed data it will cost an additional $4 per head and you MUST contact Hereford Verified prior to marketing your cattle.

- % Live Animal Qualifiers = 90%
- % Choice Grading = 60%
*Cattle will be sold to packers on a lot basis, and the percentage requirements above are based on individual lots.
*Program feeders must market their calves through National Beef Packing Co., LLC for producers to be eligible for bonuses. National Beef has pre-established a grid structure to reward feeders, and there is no guarantee that all cattle enrolled in the program will be sold to National Beef.
*Cattle that are eligible for National Beef’s Age Verified program will continue to receive the National Beef market rate at time of slaughter.
To participate in the Hereford Verified program cattle feeders must comply with National Beef’s Quality Systems Assessment program for source and age verification, exchange EID information with the Hereford Verified database, commit to a monthly volume of cattle and share performance data with the Hereford Verified program. This data includes:
- Start Date
- Pay Weight
- Off Truck Weight
- Health Cost
- Average Daily Gain (ADG)
- Dry Matter (DM) Conversion
- Days on Feed
